Today, the first meeting of the Steering Committee was held in the Capital City Assembly as part of the candidacy of the Capital City for the title of European Youth Capital 2028.
At the beginning of the event, the President of the Capital City Assembly, Dr. Jelena Borovinić Bojović, and the Minister of Sports and Youth, Dragoslav Šćekić, addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of a shared vision and the role of young people in this project.
After that, the representative of the Youth Office, Danilo Vučinić, delivered a presentation on the concept, goals, and significance of the EYC candidacy for the city and young people. On this occasion, the structure and role of the Steering Committee were also presented, where young people will make up a two-thirds majority, directly deciding on the next steps in developing the application and strategic direction of the Capital City in the field of youth policy.
Today’s meeting was an opportunity for open dialogue and exchange of ideas among the Steering Committee members, who presented concrete proposals for improving the application itself.
This is yet another confirmation of the clear vision of the Capital City, ministries, the NGO sector, young people, international organizations, and youth policy experts—of the Capital City as a European center of youth policies and activities: a city that genuinely cares about and works to improve the position and lives of young people, ensuring that their voices are heard and that they are at the forefront of decision-making and the creation of public policies relevant to this population.
Together, we continue to work with dedication towards realizing the vision of the Capital City as the European Youth Capital 2028.
Youth Makes The City!
