Europe is Podgorica’s choice – let Podgorica be Europe’s choice

Organized by the Capital City Assembly, in partnership with the Secretariat for Local Self-Government and Cooperation with Civil Society – Youth Office, an event dedicated to promoting Podgorica’s candidacy for the European Youth Capital 2028 title was held today at the Capital City Assembly.

Opening the event, the President of the Capital City Assembly, Dr. Jelena Borovinić Bojović, reminded that the idea of the candidacy emerged through dialogue with young people and international partners, and today represents a process that has brought Podgorica to the finals of one of the most prestigious European competitions.

The event featured two panel discussions. The first brought together Dr. Jelena Borovinić Bojović, Manel Sanchez (European Youth Card Association – EYCA), Ergys Gezku (Tirana EYC 2022), and Ksenija Borilović (Youth Office), who exchanged experiences on the candidacy process and preparations for the title.

The second panel included Vladimir Perazić (Youth Network of Montenegro), Ajša Hadžibegović (Association of Youth Work Practitioners – UPOR), and Danilo Vučinić (Youth Office), who spoke about the importance of youth policy and the role of local government in improving the position of young people.

Participants emphasized that Podgorica’s very entry into the finals is already a great recognition and an incentive for further joint efforts, as well as proof that our city is ready to carry this important European title.

“Europe is Podgorica’s choice – let Podgorica be Europe’s choice,” was the key message of today’s gathering.
