The delegation of the Capital City of Podgorica successfully presented its candidacy for the prestigious title of European Youth Capital 2028 before an international jury in Brussels.
Alongside Podgorica, the cities of Leeuwarden, Paralimni, Pernik, and Chișinău are also in the final race for the title. The official presentation to the jury was delivered by the Mayor of the Capital City, Prof. Dr. Saša Mujović, and the Secretary General of the Youth Network of Montenegro, Vladimir Perazić, who showcased Podgorica’s vision as a city that creates opportunities, encourages youth participation, and builds an inclusive and sustainable future.
This candidacy represents yet another confirmation that the Capital City genuinely cares about young people and is rapidly positioning itself on the European map of cities implementing innovative and inclusive youth policies.
The application process lasted more than a year and a half, during which significant effort, dedication, and collaboration with young people, youth organizations, institutions, and international organizations were invested, for which we are grateful.
It was precisely their energy, ideas, and needs that formed the basis of the candidacy, reflecting Podgorica’s ambition to be a city shaped by its youth.
The results announcing which city will carry the title of European Youth Capital 2028 will be known on November 28, 2025.
Regardless of the final outcome, the Capital City will continue to improve local youth policies, implement new programs, and empower young people to become active drivers of social change.
