Youth in Focus: A Dialogue on the Quality of Participation and Youth Policies

Yesterday, a meeting was held at the Secretariat for Local Self-Government and Cooperation with Civil Society with representatives of the NGO CEDEM, within the project “Qu’est-ce que tu fais le vendredi? – What Do You Do on Fridays?”, implemented by the Network for Youth of Montenegro (NYM) in partnership with CEDEM and in cooperation with UPOR.

The meeting provided an opportunity for young people to share their views and proposals, while institutional representatives gained first-hand insight into young people’s perspectives and expectations, as well as into a newly developed document defining minimum standards for the quality of youth participation. The aim of the meeting was to establish sustainable and functional mechanisms that will enable continuous and meaningful involvement of young people in decision-making processes.

Through constructive dialogue, participants discussed opportunities to improve the position of young people and strengthen youth policies, with a particular emphasis on the importance of institutional support and cooperation with the civil society sector.

During the meeting, Secretary Anđušić presented the activities carried out by the Youth Office aimed at improving the position of young people, the available mechanisms for their involvement in decision-making processes, as well as plans for the upcoming period. Special attention was given to the opportunities within the framework of the European Youth Capital 2028 programme, along with the benefits and possibilities this programme brings for young people.

It was concluded that, in the coming period, the Youth Office and CEDEM will further strengthen their cooperation in the field of improving the position of young people and developing youth policies, with the goal of creating a supportive and inclusive environment for young people.
