Podgorica Officially Awarded the Title of European Youth Capital 2028

At the official opening ceremony of the European Youth Capital 2026 programme in Tromsø, representatives of the European Youth Forum presented a certificate to the delegation of the Capital City of Podgorica, officially confirming that Podgorica has been awarded the prestigious title for 2028.

This decision, made by the jury of the European Youth Forum, represents strong recognition of the Capital City’s continuous efforts to improve youth policy, empower young people, and create opportunities for their active participation in social processes.

The title of European Youth Capital 2028 opens a new chapter in the development of Podgorica as a city of opportunity, innovation, and participation, where young people will be the driving force of positive change. In the coming period, intensive work will follow on the implementation of a rich programme covering education, mobility, entrepreneurship, activism, and youth well-being.

We congratulate Tromsø on holding the title of European Youth Capital 2026 and look forward to cooperation, exchange of experience, and the joint strengthening of the European network of youth-oriented cities.

Podgorica is ready for 2028 — ready to be a city of youth, ideas, and Europe’s future.
