On Tuesday, July 23, the President of the Capital City Assembly, Dr. Jelena Borovinić Bojović, together with partners and recognized actors in youth policy from relevant institutions and the NGO sector, organized the first consultative meeting regarding the initiative for Podgorica to begin preparing its application for the European Youth Capital 2028.
Through this initiative, Podgorica aims to affirm its potential as a driver of social transformation, becoming a model for European cities and a strong advocate of youth policies at both the national and international levels.
This initiative will create an encouraging environment for young people, offering numerous opportunities and activities aligned with European policies and strategies. In this way, Podgorica will become a city tailored to the needs of its youth. The title of European Youth Capital enables the realization of positive changes in the local community, improved cooperation with the NGO sector, and enhanced ties with the international community.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Youth Office—Nikola Jočić, Ksenija Borilović, and Danilo Vučinić—as well as representatives from the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Youth Center in Podgorica, Capital City officials, the City Manager, and NGOs active in the youth sector including the NGO Center for Youth Education, NGO CAZAS, NGO Juventas, the Fund for Active Citizenship, the Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro, and representatives of the Student Parliament.
Next steps were agreed upon to expand cooperation with all interested parties who can effectively contribute to this process, and the preparation of a public call for participation in the working group, which will bring together all relevant stakeholders, was announced.
