The representative of the Youth Office, Ksenija Borilović, together with the Secretary of the Secretariat for Social Welfare, as part of the delegation of the Capital City, took part in the opening ceremony of the European Youth Capital 2026 in the Norwegian city of Tromsø from 19 to 22 February 2026.
During the visit, important meetings and exchanges of experience were held with representatives of the cities of Lublin, Ghent, Parma, and the Municipality of Tromsø, as well as with the project coordinators of the “True North 2026” programme in Norway. Discussions focused on governance models, youth involvement in decision-making processes, programme sustainability, and strengthening international cooperation.
A particularly significant segment of the visit was networking with representatives of the European Youth Forum, which further opens opportunities for cooperation at the European level and the application of European standards in the field of youth policy.
As part of the study visit, the multifunctional centre Tvibit was also visited, where representatives of Tromsø introduced the representatives of the Capital City to the functioning of the centre, its management models, and examples of good practices in working with young people. The experiences gained will be important for the further development and improvement of spaces and services intended for young people in our city.
Representatives of the Capital City also took part in the opening ceremony of the Youth Capital “True North 2026”, while a particularly important and historic moment was the official reception of the title of European Youth Capital for 2028. This marks the beginning of a new phase of intensive preparations, programme development, and capacity building, with the aim of providing young people with the highest quality opportunities for participation, development, and international cooperation.
We remain committed to working for and with young people – supported by a strong European network of partners and a clear vision for the development of youth policy.
